Red anodized aluminum and black hardware dress this Protech Malibu, and the DLC black MagnaCut blade runs a reverse tanto profile with a spine dropping to a strong tip. The flipper tab and button lock both work one-handed.

• DLC Black MagnaCut Reverse Tanto Blade - Ground high and flat under black DLC, the reverse tanto drops its spine into a broad, strong point. MagnaCut is a premium powder stainless that both resists corrosion and holds an excellent edge, while remaining strong for heavier tasks.
• Red Anodized 7075 Aluminum Scales - The scales are solid 7075 aluminum, with a spine formed from two machined handle slabs. Chamfered edges and a milled finger index shape the front, black hardware holds it together, and a lanyard hole is machined through the end.
• Black Button Lock & Ball Bearing Pivot - Flipping the tab snaps the blade out effortlessly with the button lock doubling as the detent. Hardened steel washers back the ball bearing pivot, and the blade locks up with zero play.
• Short Deep-Carry Pocket Clip - Short, black and shaped for deep carry, the clip sits on the show side for right-hand tip-up carry. It buries the handle so only the clip shows above the pocket seam.

The Protech Malibu

The Protech Malibu has some of the finest fidget action in the industry. With ball bearings at the pivot and precisely tuned button lock detent, the blade opens effortlessly at the press of the flipper. Matthew Lerch drew up the design, as the first manual button lock out of a shop that had spent two decades on side-opening automatics. This same design would later claim Overall Knife of the Year at the 2022 Blade Show.  Protech has been building American-made knives since 1999 and makes the Malibu in small batches, hand fit at the bench for precision built daily carry.
