The RoseCraft Clinch River Swayback in Red Picked Bone wraps a 14C28N Wharncliffe blade in red, hand-jigged covers. It wears heirloom looks over a modern choil made for close work.

• 14C28N Wharncliffe Blade - The straight edge runs flat to a fine point for controlled slicing and detail work. 14C28N is a Sandvik stainless known for taking a keen edge and sharpening up fast, but it gives up some edge life to harder steels. The flats wear a brushed satin finish.
• Red Picked Bone Covers - Red bone gets a picked jig, a field of small hand-cut marks that breaks up the surface and catches the light. RoseCraft does its jigging by hand, one knife at a time. Brushed steel bolsters, steel liners, nickel silver pins, and a nickel silver rosebud shield frame it.
• Blade and Bolster Finger Choil - The choil is cut partly from the blade and partly from the bolster. Your index finger settles in ahead of the handle, close to the work, while the swayback curve fills the rest of your grip. That hold puts real control on close cuts.
• Slip Joint Action - Pull it open by the nail nick against a firm, steady spring. The blade snaps home with a crisp crack. A confident half stop clicks in midway and slows the blade before it closes.

The RoseCraft Clinch River Swayback

The Clinch River Swayback is the classic swayback pattern rebuilt for control, with a finger choil shared between blade and bolster. Andy Armstrong designed it for RoseCraft Blades of Maryville, Tennessee, which names most of its patterns after rivers and creeks in the area. The curved back of the handle rests easy in the palm, and a straight Wharncliffe edge does the cutting. Lay that edge across a taut fishing line and it parts clean along its full length.
